  3. Two little highstreet purchases that have served me very well this weekend. I’m so glad I bought the @accessorize pansy clutch when it was on sale after Christmas - it’s statement arm candy at it’s very best! My @topshop Gator patent nude heels went lovely with my light blue #andotherstories sleeveless wrap dress. Everyone needs a pair of nude heels in their wardrobe - Stylist Anna Moor told me that last year, you need a pair of nude and a pair of metallic to get you through the summer. http://lucieloves.co.uk/post/23442712587/20-05-12-the-stylists-subliminal-art-of-persuasion

  4. #BLOGGED Pt. 2 Salivating over colour combos, fabrics and finishes. My visit to the @NikeiD store @Boxpark London c/o #weownthenight

The Food and Lycra girls and myself were very lucky to have the NikeiD store all to ourselves. We pranced up and down, gazing at the array of Nike paraphernalia and books on display and trying out the shoes for size. We all ‘ummed’ and ‘aahed’ over what colours to have on our final designs. I even took to social media to tap into the expert knowledge of some of my best trainer-loving friends on Instagram and Twitter. The Food & Lycra ladies designs were very nice too - check out their blog #weruntoeat.

Gemma and I played around designing a few different variations of the Nike Air Max 1 iD’s. I tried creating a dark pair and also a lighter pair with punchier colours.

My thought process went a bit like this: If I’m going to do this, I’m going to go a little bit crazy!

I ended up settling on a combination of grey leather and suede, purple suede, crimson laces, with a matching yellow heel and sole. The best rainbow shoes ever!!

I was a bit of a geek and ended up having my name written on the back of the heel too. These shoes are keepers. I want to be able to say - years from now - “Look at these cool trainers I made when I was doing my blog!” - just one of the very many amazing experiences that I have been fortunate to undertake since starting my own little Tumblr space.

Once you have selected your Nike iD design, if you’ve created it online, you can share it with friends via social media. Or, if you’ve whizzed up your design in one of the NikeiD store’s you will receive a miniature little Nike shoebox containing a laminated-card version of your NikeiD.com design.

My design is called ‘Lucie Loves…’

4 weeks from the date of creation is when my little Air Max 1 badboy’s are supposed to be landing on my doorstep. I’ll be snapping away at my rainbow feet when that day comes.

It turns out that they day they arrive might just coincide with the We Own The Night 10K race day. What a nice little reward they’ll be. A treat to ease my sweaty, tired feet out of my Nike Free’s and into my brand-spanking new trainers!! Yeaaaah!

If you want to create your own bespoke pair of Nike Air Max 1’s or Nike Free running shoes you can have a gander online. It will cost from £120 for the Air Max 1’s and from £105 for the Nike Free’s. There are soooo many other styles to choose from too. I really like the Nike Blazer’s, which start at £85 if you wanted to custom-build your own very special pair.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my whistle-stop NikeiD journey. I certainly did, and would recommend it as a great surprise birthday treat idea for a loved one. You’d be the coolest: girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband/mother/father/aunt/uncle/grandma/grandad/brother/sister on the block! (delete as appropriate)

    Thanks for reading.

  5. #BLOGGED Like a kid in a sweet shop. My visit to design AirMax1’s @NikeiD @Boxpark, London - PART ONE

    My #WeOwnTheNight adventure continues…

I am currently in, what could be called, the ‘gestation’ period. I am awaiting the creation of my very own pair of Nike Airmax 1 iD’s.

The other week I was invited by the fabulous guys and gals at Nike UK to visit the Nike iD store at Boxpark in Shoreditch, east London to design my very own pair of Nike iD trainers.

I was flipping delighted - to say the least! Of course, I said yes! yes! yes!

I’ve been to Boxpark more times over the past few months of living in London than I ever have done before. A couple of friends have pop-up boutique’s in Boxpark - Alan Wardle aka Any Forty and the beautiful Nhuc Tran of Sugar & Style, formerly known as China Doll Boutique. It’s amazingly inspiring to see how people can imprint their brand’s personality onto such a small space. But it works!

On arrival at NikeiD I was greeted with a glass of sparkly fizz and a giant macaroon and the sight of another really beautifully designed and stocked store. My NikeiD Design Consultant, Gemma, couldn’t have been more helpful and was the epitome of excellent customer service - this is something I feel that brands like Apple and Nike really excel in and that others could learn a thing or two from…

Gemma expertly talked me through the choice of custom colours, fabrics, and personalisation options available for my very own Air Max 1 iD’s. It was a lot to take in, but Gemma was keen/confident that I would walk away with a design that I would absolutely LOVE.

Like all things in life - everyone has vastly differing tastes in clothing, shoes, colour combinations, etc. As I found out when I spied the lovely Food & LYCRA ladies - Laura, Kim and Rachel - having fun designing their own pairs of Nike iD’s…

  7. #BLOGGED Summer lovin’ (what I want to wear when the weather gets warmer…)

Like a breath of summer air, that’s what opening my little YBD parcel felt like. I was greeted by zingy orange Charlotte Taylor, sea blue mermaid-style Atalanta Weller and stunning Meli Melo butter-soft arm candy. I immediately wanted to unwrap them all, call my friends and tell them to get dressed up so that we could all go out and play*.

    What I’m wearing:

  8. #BLOGGED Zigzag shaped summer sandal delights from Atalanta Weller at Young British Designers.

I love these sandals. They have all the comfort of a wedge but the deceptively slender back-view of a stiletto. Ta da!

Block Heel Zigzag Sandal by Atalanta Weller at Young British Designers

Atalanta Weller has produced a stunning tan-caramel suede, block heel sandal with soft, pale cream, zigzag accents. The heel height is just over 3 inches - so very practical. I think these shoes well deserve a place on your holiday packing list, they’d be fab for adding a little extra length to your pins and a little extra wow to your outfits.

A few possible ways to wear them:

  9. #BLOGGED Statement shoes by Atalanta Weller at Young British Designers and how to wear them.

These sea blue peep-toe sandal wedges by Atalanta Weller are certainly eye-catching. But how on earth do you wear them? I decided to set myself a small mission to answer that question.

Here are some outfit inspiration photos that I found on Pinterest, my favourite visual mood-boarding site.

    “How To Wear Statement Shoes?”

    image

Source: vanessajackman.blogspot.com via Sarah on Pinterest

    1. Think casual, think neutral and let your feet do the talking.

Wear a camel jacket, simple white t-shirt, coral red nails and skinny ankle-grazer blue jeans with your statement shoe of choice.

    image

Source: vogue.co.uk via Magdalena on Pinterest

    2. Tie your shoe colour in with your accessories.

Whether that’s picking a shade that matches your shoe by pairing it with a necklace or gorgeous clutch bag, have fun with it. Go for jewel-tones: hot pink, burnished orange or emerald green.

    3. Colour Pop.

Pretty fuchsia pink colour-block boots add a little something extra to this grey, navy and black-leather ensemble. Wear your favourite ‘look-at-me’ footwear and purposefully play down the rest of your outfit’s colour palette to make them look even bolder.

    4. Monochrome magic.

Dress solely in black and white. Give your outfit a twist by playing with printed trousers and then add your favourite colourful shoes to finish the look off. This look could work with flats or heels.

    5. Spectrum.

Choose a simple long-sleeved dress in one hue and then select your shoes and accessories depending on complementary shades on the colour wheel.
