  2. Two little highstreet purchases that have served me very well this weekend. I’m so glad I bought the @accessorize pansy clutch when it was on sale after Christmas - it’s statement arm candy at it’s very best! My @topshop Gator patent nude heels went lovely with my light blue #andotherstories sleeveless wrap dress. Everyone needs a pair of nude heels in their wardrobe - Stylist Anna Moor told me that last year, you need a pair of nude and a pair of metallic to get you through the summer. http://lucieloves.co.uk/post/23442712587/20-05-12-the-stylists-subliminal-art-of-persuasion

Right! Now I’m ready! There’s nothing like a bit of premature publishing to set pulses racing… :-S

I’m amongst a tribe of Women currently reading the Adult Romance Fifty Shades Filth Trilogy and I’m actually quite enjoying it, in a weird escape-from-the norm, read-something-a-bit-naughty, kind of way.

It was only because my own Mother asked if I’d read it yet and then said she fancied reading it, that I thought I’d have a dabble… I’ve finished the first book Fifty Shades of Grey and started the second Fifty Shades Darker in quick-succession.

It now amuses me to see women with raised eyebrows and startled, yet lustful, expressions on train station platforms across Britain. There was this one women last week at Nottingham, who couldn’t seem to get the book close enough to her face! It was like she could literally smell Christian Grey… (I bet he would smell pretty good though..) Anyway, it’s kind of like being part of some elitist trashy novel club. I’m actually reading it on my iPhone 4 using the iBook app… trying to be slightly more clandestine in my foray into the world of Christian Grey and also so that I can use the inbuilt dictionary app, every 4 pages or so, to find out what words I’ve-never-heard-in-my-life-used-by-a-normal-person mean.

I’m not thick… I promise. I just think the writer E. L. James appears to have swallowed a Thesaurus and gets as much of a kick writing about BDSM relationships as she does throwing her weight around with big words… Just saying.

I like words too. I think this book is proving rather educational…01.07.12 :: Henry Holland Suspender Fishnets and Topshop Military Casuals

So, with that in mind, I decided it was time to try out my new Henry Holland Fishnet True Suspender Tights, £15.49 from Tights Please with Free UK Delivery... They are pretty naughty.

I saw fellow blogger Lua P. rocking hers in a pair of denim cut-off shorts and thought she looked pretty hot.

I decided to wear mine with my new Topshop Khaki coloured Casual Military Shirt, £36, (a recent purchase that is sure to take me nicely from Summer into Autumn) an oversized Primark black racerback vest, my mum’s DKNY acid wash bleached denim cut-offs and my Topshop Vectra Black Studded Pumps, £28.

I wore my new Pearl and Spike Topshop Necklace, £15 - see similar items here. I couldn’t find the exact one on the Topshop website, but they do have some pretty similar cheaper versions… I also chose the cross earrings and the silver spiked stud, from the assorted pack, £6 to adorn my lobes, and had a bit of an ‘arm-party’ with a mixture of gold and black bangles.

    Then…

I remembered I was going for dinner at a friends house and that these tights were not suitable dinner attire. I changed into some grey and pink H &M Floral Printed Leggings, which actually went rather nicely with the shirt. 01.07.12 :: Henry Holland Suspender Fishnets and Topshop Military Casuals

As you will have noticed, my latest shoe fetish comes in the shape of Topshop’s Rose Gold Metallic Bleach Wood Wedges… aka Walton. These shoes are amazing! Serious bling for the feet. It’s like when you were little and used to put an old 1p or 2p copper coin into a glass of Coca Cola, and put it in the fridge only to pull the coin out hours later to find the previously dull as dishwater coin has been transformed into the shiniest copper colour ever! “WOW!” That is what these shoes are like, they transform your once Wintery shod feet into twinkling beacons of Summer!

The also come in a slighter higher heeled version… My Walton wedges are 3” but the Wowza version are a staggering 5” and are therefore would be somewhat inappropriate for *traipsing around a beautiful Greek Island for 2 weeks… *comfortably.

I’ve made the mistake before of falling in love with buying shoes/ wedges that have skyscraper heels and/or platforms and then only wearing them a handful of times due to their ball (of your foot) breaking pain and subsequent crippling effect. I’m learning that when it comes to your mid 20s, there are somethings that you shouldn’t take for granted and that is a comfortable, good-looking shoe.

I decided to pair my Walton wedges with my Primark Floral Skinny Jeans - I wasn’t too sure of these at first but… then I saw my gorgeous long-legged cousin Liane wearing them and she looked HOT! So I bought the cheap-as-chips pair and decided to give them a whirl - I bought a size 10 but they do get prettttty baggy after a few wears and I then needed to secure them with a thin tan waist belt (also Primark). I also wore a Topshop white button-up sleeveless shirt which I knotted at the waist, my new Topshop SS12 MOTO Bleack Western Denim Jacket, £40 (an Easter present off JMG’s mum), and my Forever21 chain-link collar necklace, which was around £8, and a couple of bracelets - the gold leaf cuff was a piece of jewellery I inherited from an old friend and the multi-coloured wrap-around beaded one was about 5 Euros from a lovely shop in Puerto Pollensa on the harbour front that has lots of beautiful ethnic beaded jewellery.

My Tan Floral Embossed Bag was another cheap steal from Primark, The sunglasses are the Leopard Surf Rider Sunglasses from Urban Outfitters, £16. Individual eyelashes by @HarbLashtastic http://www.lashtastic.net/ - Day 4 and they are still going great!

P.S. It’s now only 6 MORE SLEEPS until we go on our 2 week summer holiday. I’m so giddy with excitement!

  12. 28.05.12 :: A little bit of analog photography, sunshine yellow summer dresses and Lashtastic lashes

This weekend I was working away in the beautiful and ever-so-sunny County of Herefordshire. I packed light, taking mainly floaty cotton maxi dresses and this little yellow floral racerback sun dress from last year, which was dirt cheap from H&M, with my Leopard Surf Rider Sunglasses, £16 from Urban Outfitters and metallic sandals.

Meanwhile, this morning back at home in Leicestershire, the Postman delivered me the pack of 10 Fuji Provia Slide films won on ebay for just £30 all the way from Thailand. My heart LEAPT with joy as I undid the package and anticipated the moment I popped the film into my Mamiya and got creative - analog style! I’m working on an exciting Documentary Fashion Project at the moment and hope to use a combination of my Canon 5D MKII, JMG’s Canon 550D and my Mamiya C330 Medium Format camera. Nice!

Also today, with just 9 sleeps left until our Summer Holiday and a pretty busy Bank Holiday Weekend leading up to it - a night out with the girls, a wedding and a family party to name but a few…  I decided to try out Lashtastic individual lashes

They took around an hour and a half for beautician Claire to apply, and cost £60. You can choose which length lashes you’d prefer. I had the extra long, long and medium as my lashes are longish but have no curl to them…

They are said to last between 2 and 4 weeks depending on how well you look after them. I’m just hoping they’ll still be in place for my holiday so that I don’t look like a newborn baby mouse in the sun without eye makeup on!

I’m very happy with the results and found that even without mascara, which I usually pile on in abundance, my lashes looked accentuated and eyes looked better.

This post was supposed to be published yesterday… oops.

But too much photography and a couple of tasty @AlmanackHighX mojitos whilst editing photos makes a girl tired…

And… as of getting back home after another MEGA day at 8pm last night, I couldn’t bear the thought of sitting at my computer screen for any longer.

However, yesterday, as part of the #HighcrossFashion Week I was invited to interview the gorgeous stylist @AnnaMoorStylist of The Stylist London - check her out .

(My interview with her will be up in the next couple of weeks on my other blog: http://lucieloveshighcross.tumblr.com)

As soon as I heard I was to interview a Stylist I was like arghhhh!?!??!

    Fashion Panic mode set in.

I knew that I would be running around like a headless chicken all day photographing the HFW Live Show’s and needed to wear something comfortable, but still look like I’d made an effort.

In the end… I opted for my pretty Suzie LOVE floral playsuit from Topshop, £38 (in S/M) and decided to try it out with my cute new Red or Dead ‘Diana’ tights from TightsPlease. They are 50 denier, so kind of sheer, but still provide great coverage and warmth. I loved the cute little lace printed suspender detail and got quite a few appreciative comments from the ladies and shocked glances from the menfolk when wearing them to photograph the Highcross Style Lounge Event.

    But… you’re only young once!

I liked pairing the tights with the playsuit as the fun floral print added a sweet girly feel to the rather raunchy looking tights. I added my YBD Lama Peach Paige Boots for a touch of necessary leg lengthening height as well as comfort. To accessorise I wore my pale peach coloured pearl necklace - a gift from my mum - and a stack of gold bracelets and pink #BromptonPlace @Nailsinc Polish.

Boyfriend’s thoughts: “They were tights and they looked nice.” Says it all really.

I suppose it’s true what they say: You wear the clothes you wear to impress other women and to make yourself feel good… the boyfriend couldn’t care less if you were wearing a bin bag.

The Red or Dead Diana Tights with Lace Hold-up Detail were £12.49 now £9.99 with free UK delivery.
