BLOGGED: #TriedAndTested #WhereToEat #Review #Food Mmm! Lunch at The @Crumblin_Cookie @thecookiejar_ Leicester
I recently discovered the wonder that is The Crumblin’ Cookie Cafe in Leicester. I am ashamed to say that despite living and working in Leicester for the past 3 years or so, until recently, I had never been in! My loss, I assure you!
I decided to take a peek at their menu and house zine (Yes! They have their own programme of events in magazine format - it’s soo cool!) and chose their scrumptious Eggs Benedict (with perfect homemade hollandaise sauce… I was in AWE!), a freshly baked chocolate brownie and hot vanilla milk with Marshmallows. MMM! I also got to meet the lovely owners - Katie & Tinny!
They kindly showed me round the place so that I could take a few photos and I was surprised to find that the place has 3 floors! Including a basement bar and stage area AND a roof terrace! Blimey!
Most impressive too, was their cute little house Spaniel Pup - Daisy! Soo cute!
I thoroughly recommend this place if you fancy a nice change from the likes of The Orange Tree, Firebug, Taps, The Almanack and other young & trendy bars dotted around Leicester. They often host great gigs downstairs at The Cookie Jar venue and exhibit work by local artists on their walls. The space can be hired for private parties too!
Overall, I found it a very warm and welcoming place, perfect for popping by and having a coffee and a slice of cake and a good natter with their friendly owners, in the heart of Leicester city centre. I recommend it to all!
“More Than Just A Coffee Bar…” Indeed!

BLOGGED #Review I was delighted to be invited to @KyleBeasleyHair’s BRAND NEW Salon in St Martins Sq Leicester

#TriedAndTested #Review I was delighted to be invited to check out @KyleBeasleyHair, a BRAND NEW Salon in St Martins Sq, Leicester. Kyle a former Manager at Rachel Hammond and member of the GHD Style Squad, recently decided to open his own salon and what a lovely place it is too!******* Customers get 20% off their first visit! ***********************

With more than a few familiar friendly faces from the old Rachel Hammond team and a real buzz in the air, the happy, smiling customers were settled comfortably into their new surroundings and offered the usual tea, coffee, magazines and a good chat!

The new salon was a of hive cut, colour, styling AND beauty activity, their new premises are shared with the Urban Chic Beauty Salon.

My hair needed a bit of TLC, it also definitely needed a good chop too. I was taken to have my hair washed and treated to some glorious smelling L’Oreal moisture boosting products and a fab complimentary head massage complete with conditioning hair mask for my colour-damaged, heat-parched ends.

And so… In the very capable hands of my hair stylist, the gorgeous Leighanne Regan, I took a deep breath and showed her the photo of the style I wanted to achieve BUT not lose much of the length… and not have it cut BLUNT!

Leighanne, who also works on the GHD Style Squad team, also styles at Fashion Week events and works with independent photographers, she is great. She instantly put me at ease and used her scissors in a way that just nibbled at my hair, taking away the split ends, removing some of the weight and consequently injecting a bit of movement and body back into my hair.

Et Voila…

A Sixties Sex-Bomb Hair ‘Do with Super-Shaggy Layers & Tousled Lengths.
Yesss!
If you fancy trying somewhere new (which is always rather daunting…) you MUST check this place out. The Stylists are all fantastic (and ALL have GREAT hair - A MUST FOR SUSSING OUT WHETHER YOU TRUST SOMEWHERE TO CUT YOUR HAIR!!!) They always keep upto date with the latest hair cut and colour trends too.

You’ll be in safe hands here!
This new Salon’s schedule is sure to be jam-packed with delighted customers re-booking to be preened, pampered and turned out beautifully.Well done Guys and Gals!
Show them some LOVE!

One I should have posted on Monday… oops! 29.05.12 :: Rockin’ Pastels… Trying out my new £14 lemon sorbet yellow skinny George jeans & @topshop Walton metallic wedges..
A few days ago I managed to nip into Asda for a quick whip around the clothes section looking for cheap additions to my holiday wardrobe. I spotted these lovely George lemon skinny jeans, a snip at just £14! They also do them in baby pink, but they had run out of size 10. The bottom of the jean is a little loose around the ankle but that was easily sorted with a couple of turn ups.
I was a little wary of trying Pastel’s as they can feel a bit ‘wishy washy’ and so decided to try ‘rocking’ it up a bit with this sheer stripe black racerback vest from Topshop, lots of gold and black long necklaces and bangles (Forever21, Primark and Charity shops) and my new Walton Rose Gold Metallic Bleach Wood Wedges, £50 from Topshop, at Highcross.
The perfect alternative to cutesy.
