Let me introduce you to Young British Designer’s Charlotte Taylor of @CTaylorLTD and her wonderful Sloane Square #CTPopup Shop.
I recently had the good fortune to receive a beautifully illustrated invitation to the press launch of the Charlotte Taylor Sloane Square pop-up shop.
From the Holly V Maslen designed invitation alone, I knew I was in for a treat.
Charlotte Taylor, and her kaleidoscopic world of prints, first came
onto my radarinto my wardrobe after spying her AW12 creations on Young British Designers and the rest, as they say, is history.Charlotte’s prints are bold and daring. They instill confidence in their wearer. I promise - I’ve worn them a lot!
They turn heads.
“A collection inspired by a mother/daughter adventure through Rajasthan, India in April 2012, presented to you is a rich, colourful, playful yet modern take on this magical land.”
From parrots, lanterns and trumpets in AW12, to peacocks, the Taj Mahal, feathers and cows in SS13. Her pieces are always colourful, fun to wear and beautifully made.
When you visit the Charlotte Taylor Sloane Square pop-up store in London, which is open until the 7th June, you will see for yourself just how very irresistible her pieces are.
NOTE: I had to mentally-prise myself out of the two little quilted jackets - I loved them that much! (See photos)
“Traditional techniques complement Charlotte’s quirky prints and elegant silhouettes in a vibrant, endearing collection for spring/summer 2013.”
The small peacock quilted print bomber jacket in orange and - its sister - the Taj print quilted bomber jacket, in pale purple and lime hues, are the perfect summer statement jackets to throw over a simple shift dress, (I’m wearing my new Cos striped knit dress in the photos) or even a pair of jeans and summer sandals.
“Watch out for India’s national symbol, the peacock, whose elaborate feathers are heavily featured, along with the sacred hump back cow and infamous Taj Mahal.”
My other favourite pieces from her pop-up shop include the Taj quilted dress and the Taj bandeau bikini. You can never have too much Taj in your life as far as I’m concerned.
Charlotte selects her prints carefully and reworks them by crafting numerous garments. All equally covetable.
I’m a big fan of Charlotte Taylor, the person (a fellow Northerner, as I found out at the press launch) and her work. I’m genuinely excited to see what guises her next collections come in. A dark ‘Circus’ theme is on the cards for AW13 and I can’t wait!

#BOUGHT Hello @andotherstories light blue sleeveless wrap dress, welcome to my wardrobe.
I’m going - as a guest - to a summer wedding and needed something to wear that would look smart, pretty, not cost an arm and a leg and be suitable for wearing on other occasions.
It was only after venturing into the new and much heralded & Other Stories - www.stories.com store on Regent Street that I knew what I
wantedneeded to wear.I tried on the light blue sleeveless wrapdress in-store and loved the flattering neckline. (I’m wearing a size 12-14 (EUR 40) in the photo as they’d ran out of smaller sizes and I was desperate to see what it looked like on! Ignore the creases - I’ll be making sure that mine is crease-free by leaving it to hang in a steamy bathroom.)
I have just made the purchase online and have opted for a size 36 (about a size 8) so that it fits better - the 40 left me with excessive ruching of the elastic around the waist band and was visible if the belt slipped out of place.
The dress is priced at a very reasonable £45 plus £6 p+p.
I think I’m going to wear it with either my patent nude Topshop Gator snakeprint heeled court shoes or my Walton rose gold metallic bleach wood wedges, also from Topshop.I thought I’d see how it looked with my #hidelabel Daisy leather biker jacket from @ybdfashion thrown over the top too with my new sunglasses. I thought it was quite a cool summery look- if I do say so myself…

Current @COSStores Crush…
I went to the COS, Collection of Style, store at @westfieldlondon and fell in love with these gorgeous spring/summer pieces. When one shouldn’t be spending any money on clothes… what does one do?
Go WINDOW SHOPPING.
COS have a way of making their clothes feel timeless. Their stores are always beautifully mapped out, with varying hues of colour flowing from front to back, side to side. This time, I was drawn to their blue section. But their collection of burnt orange, stark white and evergreen always catches my eye. COS believes in style over fashion and so you’ll find dresses, shirts, trousers, coats, jackets, shoes and knits that will stand the test of time and easily become your classic go-to wardrobe staples. • Functional design crafted from simple ideas - COS • The quality of the fabric and cut of each garment is exceptional, something that can be hard to find in highstreet fashion.
Things I tried on and still are desperate to buy…
- Straight cotton shirt dress in periwinkle blue, £69, COS
- Side drape linen dress in petrol blue, £69, COS
- Side pleat dress in taupe(also available in navy), £59, COS
- Black leather sandals, as seen in photos, also COS
- I LOVE LOVE LOVE this little - possibly silk - printed zip-up summer jacket. I can’t find it on the COS Stores website yet, but it was £79 and I want it.
In fact, I NEED IT IN MY
WARDROBELIFE.(For reference: I’m wearing a size 8, which is an XS, in the photos above.)
