Lucie Loves... LEKXJMGwedding Tried and tested // Bohemian bridal headdresses at Brides The Show

We’ve got just under 5-months left to go before our wedding day (9 May 2015) in Leicestershire.

So far, we’ve sorted the venue, photographer, save the dates and caterers. We’re midway through planning our wedding music, thinking about florists, and in the throws of signing off our invites before they go for print. JMG has had his first suit fitting and looks incredibly dapper. I’ve bought two dresses (yes, that’s right – I got a bit excited!) and will shortly be going for my third session with my Walthamstow-based seamstress, Lindsay aka The Lady That Does.

My current wedding dilemma: trying to match up what you think you should look like on your wedding day (dress, hair & makeup), what you’d like to look like (the picture of the bride in your head) with what you actually look like in reality. It’s actually rather hard work.

I’ve discovered that I’m actually quite fussy when it comes to my makeup. *head in hands* Despite thinking about having a professional makeup artist do my bridal look, I’ve been given some *controversial* advice from a friend who is also a makeup artist (and wedding guest) that basically said I should just do it myself and take the opportunity to spend the money on nice products that I can keep afterwards. Watch this space - I’m exploring my options…

Last October, with my head full of Pinterest, I took full advantage of the vast array of exhibitors displaying their wares at Brides The Show by trying on as many different styles of headdress, flower crowns, beaded headbands and veils as I could lay my greedy hands on. It was brilliant fun. My mum loved it too.

Magpie-like, I’d stroll up and down the aisles with my mother hot footing it behind me, eyeing up stands for any pretty accessories that caught my eye.

Some of my best finds for alternative bridal accessories to date include Lila (looks 1-6), Halfpenny London (look 7) and the stunning Minna (looks 8, 9 & 10).

Other great sites to keep your bohemian peepers on for alternative bridal inspiration, dresses and accessories include:

I’ve also been scouring Twitter for the past year or so and creating a list of my favourite wedding suppliers - I’ve tried to find as many bohemian, vintage, independent and alternative wedding suppliers as possible.

Take a look at my list of wedding peeps and please let me know if you’ve got anymore that deserve to be on there.

Best of luck to those of you planning your own weddings - enjoy every minute of it!

*** We would love to hear from any wedding suppliers interested in helping us make our big day as amazing as possible.
