Lucie Loves... Drinks // #Blogged | Getting ready for National Champagne Week with a little tasting session @SearcyStPancras

From being a young girl, sitting in the VIP area of our local nightclub Mr Smiths was synonymous with bottles of Moët champagne. It  sounds a bit classier than it was. It was one of those funny coming-of-age type things where going out with friends and having a good time was often a opportune moment to enjoy a bottle of fizz. Admittedly, the fizz in question was rarely purchased by me or my friends; it was always the older boys/men who’d buy a bottle to impress you.

Champagne, for me, has always been a signifier of celebration. Whether it be going out for birthday celebrations with my loved ones, champagne is quite a ceremonial thing.

Taking the cork out, cutting a slit and inserting a coin is one of those fond memories. A memory that will stay with me for life.

I remember drinking decent champagne for the first time. My eyes nearly popped out at hearing how much the bottle of Veuve Cliquot or Bollinger cost. Champagne eh? Even the name has a nice taste to it. 

Being a blogger and living in London, you often get invites to events which make you go “Oooh! That sounds good!” The Searcys St Pancras tasting session was one of those. It wasn’t just my love of bubbles that made me RSVP ‘Yes’, it was the whole shebang. It was great to see Paula from thephodiaries.com and Nila from www.mydailylondon.com. Two great new Blogger friends that I’ve made since moving to London.

I adore St Pancras station. It holds so so many good memories for me. From arriving laden down with bags to do my 6 week internship at Magnum Photos back in 2008, to visiting our best friends and working on some pretty cool blog-related briefs. St Pancras has been the gateway to so many new opportunities and the making of many new memories.

Searcys Champagne bar, famous for being pretty darn long, is one of those stop-offs that feels like a little bit of oldy-worldly luxury. From the delicately delicious canapés - baked oysters with chorizo to beef Wellington in the most incredible sauce and a duck and strawberry perfectly paired combination, I was one happy nibbler. Finger food at its best.

It was a very pleasant way to spend an evening in London. I’ll definitely be back with friends.
