Lucie Loves... What do you see when you look in the mirror? It's not all about selfies and choosing the right filter, you know

I was filled with a strange mixture of nerves and excitement when I was asked to contribute to the What I See project.

And then I thought: “Who cares what I think?”

However, the thing is, the What I See project is about empowering women and girls across the world.

It’s about opening up and reflecting on life, love, health, happiness, success and failure. It’s a celebration of everything that makes us unique, that makes us tick.

I felt extremely privileged to have been asked to share my own journey - especially when some of the other contributors were politicians and scientists. My journey started in Warrington and, slowly but surely, wound its way down the country and ended up in London.

On the day of filming, I wondered what on earth I was going to say? What would come out? It’s funny looking back on where you’ve come from, what you’ve achieved and where you could’ve ended up.

What I See spans a multitude of different subject areas and industries; Fashion & Beauty, Lifestyle, Sport, Science, Politics, Theatre & The Arts, Feminism, Business & Technology, and Motherhood & Parenting. It opens doors into the minds of a diverse range of women and enables them to share their journey in the hope that the person watching may benefit from what they have to say.

I hope that my contribution will help girls and women see that with age, often comes body confidence - or an increase in it, anyway. No more hang ups - except for that ‘time of the month’ when your hormones go mental and everyone feels a bit crap, no matter how much effort you make!

All in all, life’s about taking a risk, making the most of what you’ve got to hand, working hard and spending time with people who make you happy.

“If you risk nothing, you risk everything.” It’s my favourite quote.

Let me know what you think of my contribution and whether it strikes a chord in any of you blog readers?
