Have you ever been for Dim Sum? Fancy it? Head to Princess Garden of Mayfair, near Bond Street, if you get peckish after shopping in London this weekend. It’s delicious.

I recently had the pleasure of devouring tasty Dim Sum for the very first time with my good friend Pauline, at Princess Garden of Mayfair, one of London’s authentic Pekinese restaurants. We met up with Pauline’s friend Jessy and a one of her friends from work. I was very excited at the promise of trying some new cuisine.

Take a look at the Princess Garden of Mayfair Dim Sum menu and see what you’d have ordered.

We were served tea on arrival and throughout our meal, as is tradition. With special Dim Sum chefs from Hong Kong, this place gets very busy. It’s advisable to try and book a table of you’ve got your heart set on eating here. It’s a stones throw from the great big Zara and Selfridges stores on Oxford Street (Marble Arch end), and so is very convenient for a hungry shopper.

What we ordered:

  • steamed beancurd (tofu) skin rolls
  • taro dumpling
  • char sui cheung fun (roast pork rice noodle roll)
  • har gau (shrimp dumplings)
  • Kai-lan vegetable stir fried with garlic (chinese broccoli or Kale)
  • Prawn and chive dumplings
  • sui mai (steamed pork and mushroom dumplings)
  • mango sago pomelo dessert

Thoughts…

Beautiful food. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone wishing to try Dim Sum for the first time. It’s well priced too and really excellent quality. Thanks to Pauline (my good B.B.C friend) and Jessy, I was able to try dishes that, as a Westerner, I wouldn’t of dreamed of trying to order, never mind get my head around the names of them, on my own.

It was a really calm and satisfying way to spend a Sunday in the heart of London. A great alternative to a traditional Sunday roast.
