Beauty review | My free skincare consultation and beauty regime overhaul with Kate from Pai Skincare [AD | Product review and Press samples]
Like any 36 year old person *desperately* trying to cling onto their youthful looks would, I eagerly accepted an offer of a free skincare consultation with Pai Lead Skin Coach, Kate. Over the 30 minute call, we talked through my skin concerns, "Age Confidence" aspirations and what I *really* wanted when it came to splashing my cash and buying a best-selling beauty product. To start, I asked Kate a series of probing questions to understand more about the Pai brand. Such as…
Q. why they offer these free online skin consultations in the first place…?
Q. what's the catch? A. There is none! |
Q. How they cater for very specific skincare needs e.g. teen and adult acne, rosacea, pregnancy, free-from, organic and vegan-beauty and also whether they provide products suitable for those with very sensitive skin due to Cancer treatments or other specific conditions.
I came away with a list of great product recommendations (which they kindly sent me to review on my blog and it was illuminating!
I would 100% recommend to those who haven’t the foggiest about skincare or just want to shake up their existing routine.

Back to Life Hydration Serum
Peptides Booster.
The Pioneer Mattifying Moisturiser. Apply in the morning to damp skin, or after spritzing one of our face toners.
British Summer Time SPF 30 for sensitive skin. Apply two fingertip-sized amounts over the top of your preferred moisturiser.
Evening
Middlemist Seven Cleanser (see above)
Light Work Rosehip Cleansing Oil. Massage into dry skin before adding a few drops of water to create a light milk. Rinse thoroughly with water to remove.
Back to Life Hydration Serum. Designed to provide long-lasting hydration without causing irritation, this serum helps to retain moisture within the skin using a combination of antioxidant Tri-Berries and skin-boosting Hyaluronic Acid. It can be used alone, layered under a moisturiser, oil or applied just to affected areas. You can mix 1-2 drops of the Peptides 5% - Smoothing Booster into the serum for an anti-aging boost - These amino acids stimulate collagen and elastin to plump and smooth. Fine lines are reduced and skin feels firmer.
3-4 times a week you can apply the Rosehip Bioregenerate Universal Facial Oil. This oil improves the appearance of dry patches, blemishes, scars, sun damage and uneven skin tone. Simply press 1-3 drops into the face and neck whilst the skin is slightly damp from either cleansing or after applying a serum or moisturiser. You can mix with 1-2 drops of the Stabilised Vitamin C 20% - Brightening Booster into the oil to revive dull skin. The powerful antioxidant helps to even skin tone for a radiant complexion without causing sensitivity. Note: You can also mix the Vitamin C in with the serum at the same time as the Peptides if you wish.
Weekly
Virtuous Circle Facial Exfoliator. Use 1-2 times per week, massaging into clean, dry skin for 1 minute before dampening the fingertips, massaging again and rinsing away.
Follow up & thoughts on Pai skincare…
So for the last 2-months I’ve been using this new – rather comprehensive and heavenly scented – Pai skincare routine, kindly put together following my free Pai Skincare consultation with Kate back in February. As with any of the tried & tested product reviews on the Lucie Loves blog, I really like to get under the skin of what I’m using - excuse the pun - so that I really can see how skin my takes to the product, any improvements or reactions experienced etc. And be sure to make the best recommendations to our readers. After all, no one wants to spend their hard earned cash slathering rubbish onto their face, do they?
As mentioned on the call with Kate, I am very lucky to have fairly problem free skin. However, I do sometimes get a reoccurring blemish or two, around my period. However, one hugely noticeable benefit (or well-timed coincidence?) of using Pai Skincare, is that during the last two or more cycles, I have not experienced any premenstrual break outs?! How wonderful, eh!
In terms of the products I tried, I must say… it still does feel hugely indulgent to double-cleanse and I would 100% categorise it as a form of self-care. At night, when I’m exhausted and tempted to go back to my old Lucie ways of not washing my face before bed (terrible, I know…) I think: “No! This is the one little thing you can do for yourself today, to ensure you look after your skin for future you, and wake up feeling fresh faced!”
One thing I noted, is that I seemed to run out of the Back to Life Hydrating Serum far quicker than the moisturiser? (maybe I was using too much?) but I can honestly say, despite being used twice a day - I still have some of The Pioneer Mattifying Moisturiser left in the bottle, along with the Rosehip oil and suncream (note to self: do a pre-bedtime pamper session later with the Rosehip oil!) Everything else - the boosters, and cleansers - my skin drank right up and enjoyed greatly!
I would whole-heartedly recommend Pai to those of you who want to buy from brands who stand for something! Sustainability-minded – with both the customer and planet needs front and centre! Aaaw!
