Film review: Barbie The Movie - A must-see for big girls and little women everywhere.

Little did I know, upon entering @cineworld last night, just how much the woman I am today — never-mind the little girl in me — needed to see Barbie the Movie. 🥹
I am forever changed and in awe at what they’ve managed to create for the big screen. I can definitely see this being turned into a Broadway musical!
I actually feel a bit teary-eyed writing this— as I did at a couple of poignant moments in the film too. The beauty of cinema, eh?
There are *so* many lines that made my heart absolutely soar! So many quips and loaded jokes that made me feel seen, heard and bloody proud of what I’ve achieved as a woman, despite the obstacles, and the patriarchal weight of the world on our collective female shoulders. *cough cough*
Margot Robbie & Ryan Gosling dazzle and delight in their delivery. The set design and outfits are insane! The attention to detail, the silliness and satirical humour! It is tongue-in-cheek funny without feeling intimidating. Yep, they’re both hot hot hot, but what Greta and team have tapped into — and even Helen Mirren’s narration can attest to this — is that, their beauty, their aesthetic is purely a glorious pastiche-esq decoy to draw attention to the true meaning and intentions behind this remarkable film.
I’ve said to countless people, if we had had this film when we were younger, back in our Dream Phone days, well… damn! Life would be hella different.
It’s gonna define a generation — in the best sort of way. 😮💨
“This is Barbie’s Dream House house. Not Ken’s.” Who knew that line would cut so deep?!
Single women everywhere will feel every beat of this epic rendition of Barbie’s life story. It’s just so clever! Careers, motherhood, self esteem, self worth, feminism, objectification… wow!
