Lucie Loves...#Blogged // Like a kid in a sweet shop. My visit to design AirMax1’s @NikeiD @Boxpark, London - PART ONE
My #WeOwnTheNight adventure continues…
I am currently in, what could be called, the ‘gestation’ period. I am awaiting the creation of my very own pair of Nike Airmax 1 iD’s.
The other week I was invited by the fabulous guys and gals at Nike UK to visit the Nike iD store at Boxpark in Shoreditch, east London to design my very own pair of Nike iD trainers.
I was flipping delighted - to say the least! Of course, I said yes! yes! yes!
I’ve been to Boxpark more times over the past few months of living in London than I ever have done before. A couple of friends have pop-up boutique’s in Boxpark - Alan Wardle aka Any Forty and the beautiful Nhuc Tran of Sugar & Style, formerly known as China Doll Boutique. It’s amazingly inspiring to see how people can imprint their brand’s personality onto such a small space. But it works!
On arrival at NikeiD I was greeted with a glass of sparkly fizz and a giant macaroon and the sight of another really beautifully designed and stocked store. My NikeiD Design Consultant, Gemma, couldn’t have been more helpful and was the epitome of excellent customer service - this is something I feel that brands like Apple and Nike really excel in and that others could learn a thing or two from…
Gemma expertly talked me through the choice of custom colours, fabrics, and personalisation options available for my very own Air Max 1 iD’s. It was a lot to take in, but Gemma was keen/confident that I would walk away with a design that I would absolutely LOVE.
Like all things in life - everyone has vastly differing tastes in clothing, shoes, colour combinations, etc. As I found out when I spied the lovely Food & LYCRA ladies - Laura, Kim and Rachel - having fun designing their own pairs of Nike iD’s…
