Lucie Loves... #photoblogged // Pantone® and a couple of Instagram event videos
Last night, JMG & I attended a fabulous pre #LFW event at DSTRKT in London. The event, organised by Rakuten Linkshare, was a celebration of the eternally harmonious relationship between fashionand colour.
There was a brilliant talk by guest speaker, Executive Director of Pantone® Colour, Leatrice Eiseman. Leatrice delved into the work of fashion week’s favourite designers and explained how the colour palette for a season’s collection is often inspired by the likes of Russian Architecture or even the chiaroscuro of a still life painting.
Twice yearly, Pantone® unveil a colour report. These reports are exceptionally well researched and are an amalgamation of the hues that fashion designers across the globe are experimenting with in their upcoming collections. The Pantone® team then look at emerging trends and select those top shades to be showcased in their colour collection.
Leatrice invites you all, readers, bloggers, and fashion designers alike, to take a peek at the Pantone® website.
For me, personally, I take great pleasure in colour. (see my new Zara tapestry technicolour coat of dreams below). The way it manifests itself in the mundane and highlights the most breathtakingly beautiful. As a photographer I am as drawn to vivid, startling hues and textures as I am to beautiful people and places. Imagine living a life in black and white? No, neither can I.
The Pantone® colour report for Fall 2013 pays homage to the colours: Emerald, Mykonos Blue, Linden Green, Acai, Samba, Koi, Deep Lichen Green, Vivacious, Turbulence, and Carafe.
I also had the pleasure of meeting the ladies from Country Attire. I loved trying on this Christys’ henley trilby hat. The Linda Farrow tortoise shell sunglasses and this Mackintosh lightweight coat also caught my eye.
Pull and Bear also had a selection of their AW13 collection on display. I had heard of the brand before but always thought that it was really expensive. Little did I know! They have some amazing clothes at cheap as chips highstreet prices. If you need to stock up on your tartan, then this is the brand for you this Autumn/Winter.
The Rakuten Pantone® event was a great opportunity for brands to meet bloggers and vice-versa over a few colour coordinated Fall 2013 hue cocktails and tasty nibbles.
For those of you bloggers who don’t know about Rakuten or other affiliate marketing network programmes, they are a way of monetizing your blog. You do this by linking the content that you write about back to the shops/brands from whence it came using specially crafted links.
Question time… @Alice_Cuffe from Motilo.com and @DianaKakkar from London Street Style blog - Trendbridged did a great brand + blogger Q&A session.
This was my first blogger event in London since JMG moved down to the big smoke. He captured some brilliant video footage of the event for me and took a couple of outfit shots from the night. We love this city!
