After accepting a event invitation from Timex – a brand I had never previously worked with – I spent last Thursday evening partying in the secret rooftop garden at Shoreditch House*. Sweet!

*Unfortunately, I’m not a member… yet – but it’s on my list of life goals.

The last time I’d stepped foot in this place was New Year’s eve. Marcos and I had bought tickets to the NYE party. We devoured the lobster buffet, sipped G&T after G&T, and downed shots of tequila, before stepping outside by the pool to watch the rather dazzling firework display, the start of what I hoped would be an equally dazzling 2016.

This time around, the crowd was a little different. More familiar. I spied two of my old university friends, who now work for ELLE UK, by the bar. It was the most wonderful surprise! It had been over a year and a half since I’d last seen them.

Then I spotted some of my other lifestyle blogger friends - John Robertson aka The Everyday Man, Lela LondonMatthew Pike and Nik Speller from Bucket and Spades blog.

In the blog world it’s rare that you get events where brands invite both male and female bloggers to the same thing. Unless it’s an alcohol or foodie event  – and then anything goes!

But this night was good. Music from the live band and DJ filled the room. The illuminated glass cases, housing Timex’s forthcoming AW16 collection, shone like jewels amidst the happy popcorn-eating crowd.

Towards the end of the evening, Kelle and I headed over to the Mix Your Watch bar. We were invited to create our own personalised Timex watch by selecting from a number of their iconic cases, and asked to pair it with a strap of our choosing. It was very fun.

We both went for one of the colourful Weekender straps to go the clean design of the Timex watch face – I loved the red second hand too! Really reminded me of the Mondaine watches (I want one of these too!)

In terms of style, my existing watch collection is pretty eclectic. I’ve got a Hauwei Fornasetti smartwatch, a Nixon Kensington with tan leather strap, a rose gold Richmond watch from Links of London and now this colourful Timex piece. I like it a lot. Particularly the Indiglo face.

Thank you for a great evening, Timex. I look forward to seeing how everyone styles theirs.
