A couple of weekends ago, JMG and I popped over to Richmond to finalise the design of my bespoke engagement ring with Sarah May Jewellery.

The sun was shining. It finally felt like spring had arrived in London. I braved wearing this pretty silk butterfly print shirt dress, but took my coat with me to throw on in case it got a bit nippy.

I haven’t even begun to think about creating a proper SS14 wardrobe yet - the closest I’ve come is picking up March issues of ELLE UK and Vogue magazine to search for inspiration.

JMG and I are currently in ‘saving-up-for-a-wedding’ mode, which means that I really have to reign myself in when it comes to some of the lofty ideas I have, like going clothes shopping, and eyeing up £85 pairs of jeans and breton striped tops from Whistles. *cries*

It’ll all be worth it when our big day finally comes around in May or June 2015, and we’re beaming from ear to ear, because we’ve got the wedding we saved up for (read: always dreamed of).

The wedding really planning is hotting up at the moment. We’ve done our first venue visit, fallen in love a little, done a bit of catering research and shrieked in horror at the £20,000 quote that came back.

Planning your dream wedding comes with a lot of moments that bring you both crashing back down to earth with a very loud thud. What we’ve found is that setting a budget is absolutely crucial - especially when it comes to negotiating with suppliers, venues and caterers - and at the moment, this is an area that still appears to be a bit of a moveable feast in the #LEKxJMGwedding arrangements.

My colleague at work, who is very hot on wedding planning, said that we need to write a catering brief, set a realistic budget and then get three competitive quotes from our favourite suppliers, to ensure that we really are getting value for money. She also said that £30-40 per head is a good guide.

Over the next 14 months we’ll be delving deeper into the world of weddings and sharing some of our best bits, helpful hints and favourite finds.
