Lucie Loves… Lexie // Next-level sports luxe from Young British Designer Lily Rice
When I first met Lily I was like “WOW! You. Are. A. Total. Babe!”
Brains and beauty - that’s Lily.
She rose to fame on the BBC TV show ‘Be Your Own Boss’ and has since been taken under the delightfully-protective-and-ever-encouraging wing of Young British Designers.
Lily describes her sportluxe alter-ego Lexie as 'fashion forward and aesthetically led’ - meaning that, for girls like you and me, shopping for sportswear is no longer just a necessity.
Lily’s molten-metallic flashes and sheer panelling are feminine touches rarely seen in the sports-world - at least the shellsuit one that I emerged into in the 80s.
Lily has also priced her pieces at a very accessible level.
- The Clara sport tee in dark marl, was £35 - now £17.50
- The Gloria sport hoodie in black and dark-grey, was £65 - now £32.50
- The Veronica sport short in black and steel, was £30 - now £15
Flash forward to 2016’s summer Olympics and this chick will be spotted designing sportswear for world athletics, running, gymnastics, iceskating and tobogganing teams - to name but a few.
Watch this space…
Thank you to Lexie for letting me try your pieces - I’ll be hitting the streets in these bad boys soon, as I start training for Nike UK’s We Own The Night 10K run.
