Our #sharethelove Valentine’s date night love-in with some sexy @marksandspencer food

When Marks and Spencer got in touch and asked if we’d like to get involved in their #sharethelove Valentine’s campaign, I could almost hear the dulcet tones of that lady from the M&S advert purring in my ear…

I said yes - obviously - and waited for our little love-filled box of treats to arrive.

This year’s dine in meal for two offer is great value, for £20 you can choose from a selection of starter, main course, side dish, dessert, bottle of wine and chocolates. Take a look at the gourmet menu.

Here’s what we chose:

Starter

  • Gastropub gold baked eggs & chorizo *

Main course

  • Rump steak with peppercorn sauce

Side dish

  • Gastropub chunky chips

Dessert

  • 2 Millionaires shortbread

Chocolates

Chocolate hearts

Wine & drinks

  • Cava el padruell rosado

After a long day at work, we dashed over to our local M&S and feasted our eyes on the gourmet dishes in front of us. I couldn’t resist buying myself a couple of bunches of daffodils - £1 each!! JMG was tempted by the runny scotch eggs - so we bought some of them too.

We arrived home laden down with bags and JMG set to work cooking up a storm. Meanwhile, I put on my new M&S pyjamas and sipped a glass of rose Cava. Bliss!

I set the table, popping the daffodils in my pale blue enamel jug, arranging the white heart LED lights in my glass storm lantern, and finally lighting my mulberry and cassis scented candle to add some mood lighting.

This is our 6th Valentine’s Day together - one more to go before we tie the knot!

Thoughts…

The food was fantastic! We were really pleased with our choice and worked out that the equivalent cost to have meal like this is a restaurant would be over £60! So, if you’re trying to save your pennies this weekend, try this M&S treat out for size. Oh! and buy yourself some flowers whilst you’re at it.
